Care & Troubleshooting

Cold plunge

Temperature, filling, filtration, water treatment, winterizing and technical requirements for the cold plunge.

How cold does the plunge get and how do I set the temperature?

Cooling is built in and goes down to 2 °C, fully adjustable from the controller/thermostat. Allow several hours for the first cool-down depending on water volume and ambient temperature; the setpoint is then maintained automatically.

How do I fill and drain the plunge?

Fill with clear mains water up to the skimmer level. Drain through the dedicated 3/4" valve. On models with automatic water renewal, fresh water is topped up continuously (mains connection required).

How often should the filter be maintained and how do I clean it?

Cartridge filter: rinse weekly, replace the cartridge every 4 to 8 weeks depending on usage. Sand filter (pro setup): regular backwashing. A clogged filter means cloudy water and less efficient cooling.

How is the water treated / what if it turns cloudy?

Treatment by ozone (+ optional UV-C) plus light chlorine dosing. If the water turns cloudy: check the filter, test chlorine/pH levels, and increase water renewal. A weekly chlorine/pH check is recommended (a regulatory requirement in French public facilities).

What does automatic water renewal do?

Connected to pressurized mains water, it injects fresh water at every use: the organic load is continuously diluted, sanitation is relieved and the water stays clear without daily manual draining. Requires a ¾" water inlet and a drain.

The cooling unit shows an error code / no longer cools — what should I do?

Check: power supply and breaker, filter cleanliness and proper water circulation (pump), clearance/ventilation around the unit (room ≤ 30 °C), and that the setpoint is correct. If an error code persists, note the exact code before contacting us.

What are the electrical requirements?

Plan a dedicated, earthed power supply protected by a 30 mA type A residual-current device. Baths with a built-in cooling unit (Ultimate, Barrel, Handmade, Sport) run on 230 V single-phase on a dedicated circuit. The connection must be made by a qualified electrician — never plug into a power strip or a shared circuit. For pro configurations, plan separate circuits for the plunge and the filtration.

What plumbing connections should I plan?

Standard baths are self-contained (plug & plunge): no plumbing is required — fill with a hose and drain through the ¾" valve. With the automatic filling / renewal option: pressurized ¾" cold-water inlet (≥ 3 bar) + Ø 50 mm drain nearby. Plunge ↔ plant-room lines must run in conduits, with a distance under 10 m.

How much R290 refrigerant does the 1 kW chiller contain?

The 1 kW chiller using R290 contains a refrigerant charge strictly below 150 g. R290 is propane and is flammable. This information applies specifically to this 1 kW model, not to all chillers.

Is the 1 kW R290 chiller suitable for a French ERP under Article CH 35?

In France, whether Article CH 35 applies in an ERP depends in particular on the refrigerant type and charge, its lower flammability limit, the room characteristics and the refrigeration-circuit design. In our assessment, the low charge and circuit design of this 1 kW R290 chiller do not correspond to a high-charge installation requiring extensive safety measures solely because of the charged quantity. This is neither blanket ERP approval nor an exemption: the final location and room conditions require a local assessment.

What safety devices are built into the 1 kW R290 chiller?

On this 1 kW R290 chiller, the built-in LP (low-pressure) and HP (high-pressure) operating safeties protect the refrigeration circuit and stop the equipment if an anomaly occurs. R290 remains a flammable gas: these built-in protections do not remove the need to assess safety measures appropriate to the room and final location.

What is the equipment warranty?

All equipment is covered by a 2-year warranty. The warranty covers all components of the plunge and technical system, including the motor and other components.

How do I handle winter / a prolonged absence?

Handmade solid-wood tub with the manufacturer's hygienic coating: for intermittent use, drain after each use and wipe the bottom until dry and clean. After a filled period of no more than one week, let the tub dry for an equivalent period. For prolonged or daily use, you may keep the tub continuously filled to avoid repeated drying, without dispensing with water renewal or cleaning. When frost is a risk, drain the tub, pipework and relevant equipment according to their guides; never run a pump dry. During drying and after winter, before every refill, check the hoops and retighten if necessary. Never refill a tub whose hoops are loose. For other tubs, if you cut the power for a long absence in a freezing area, residual water can freeze and damage a component. Before a prolonged shutdown in freezing weather: 1) switch off the power; 2) drain the bath completely (¾" valve); 3) purge the circuit — pump, filter and cooling-unit hoses (leave the valves open); 4) clean and let dry, with the cover on. Restarting: clean, fill, plug back in and restart the cooling unit.
